癒しの空間

自宅アパートの一階にある商業用スペースには、地元で評判のペットショップがある。
空前のペットブームといわれる昨今、ペット商品ですら軒並み人間様より高級志向。
店構えもなかなか洒落ている。

しばし街を離れていた私を迎えてくれたのは、ここの看板娘。
おやおや、今日はこんなところでおくつろぎ中ですか。

There is a reputation pet shop in the local at the commercial space on
the first floor of our apartment.
During the recent pet boom which is said to be unprecedented, even in
upscale pet products across the board than human-like.
The appearance of store is also very stylish.

The poster girl here gave me greeted after I was out of the city for a while.
Oh my God, are you relax here today in a place like this?

あれから11年

今年の911は、つい先日までの暑さが嘘のように寒い朝だった。
気温摂氏13度。
あの日と同じように快晴。
朝からヘリコプターが上空を飛び、街なかには哀悼の意を捧げる半旗が掲げられる。
厳戒態勢の中、今年も被害に遭われた方々の名前を遺族達が読み上げる。
永遠に続くその声に、胸が苦しく押しつぶされそうになる。

あの日、世界貿易センタービルに飛行機が突っ込んだ時、現地から３キロ離れた場所にいた一人の日本人がいた。
私もニューヨークでたくさん仕事を御一緒させていただいたカメラマン、上重泰秀さん。
「何でだ」という言葉が湧き上がった以外は「思考回路が止まったまま」、彼はカメラを携えて現場へ向かった。
理由も経過も分からず、予測のつかない不安な気持ちのままで、戦場さながらの現場付近でひたすらシャッターを切った。
決して忘れてはならない、風化させてはならないあの日の記録が、ここにある。

毎年この日は、雲一つない秋晴れが広がる。
摩天楼が目に鮮やかにうつるほど澄んだ空。
11年前のあの日、もし天候が悪かったら、惨劇は起こらなかったのかもしれないと思うと「運命」について考えざるを得ない。

上重さんは、その後しばらくして日本に帰国されてしまったが、彼のジャーナリスト魂は、ニューヨークで生きる若手カメラマン達に確実に引き継がれていると思いたい。
日本での益々の御活躍をお祈りしています。

September 11th of 2012 was a cold morning that we didn't imagine.
Temperature was 13 degrees Celsius.
It was sunny day in the same way as that day.
Helicopters flied over from the early morning, and people offered
condolences with raising flags at half-mast in the city.
The survivor in people read aloud the name of victim at the ground
zero on high alert.
My painful heart was about to be crushed by the voice that lasts forever.
On that day, when the plane slammed into the World Trade Center, one
Japanese photographer was three kilometers away from the field.
His name was Mr. Yasuhide Joju that I had a lot of work with in New York.
His "thinking circuit has stopped" except that the word "why" was bubbling
up.
But he went to the scene armed with camera.
Without understanding the reason, remained unpredictable feeling
uneasy, he took the photos earnestly in the vicinity of the site just like
the battlefield.
Here is a record of that day that should not be forgot and weathered.

On this day every year, the sky spread cloudless as autumn sunny.
It was the clear sky that skyscraper shined to eyes.
If the weather was bad on that day 11 years ago, the tragedy might had
not happened.
Now I can’t help thinking about "destiny".

He had been returned to Japan after a while and then, but I want to think
that his journalism soul has been carried over to ensure to the young
photographer living in New York.
We are more and more of us wish you success in Japan.

過ぎ去りし夏

もう10年以上のことだし、今さら何の疑いもないが、我が家に「夏休み」という言葉は存在しない。
夏がビジネス最繁忙期にあたる夫は朝から晩までオフィスに詰めるか、出張で国内外を飛び回る。
子供達を終日サマーキャンプに送り、私は普通に仕事をして過ごす。
夏の旅行でどこに行こうかと話す家族像を正直羨ましいと感じることもあるが、こればかりは仕方がない。運命である。

シッターは雇っていない。
緊急事態の場合のみ、臨時でお願いしたのも、この10年でのべ20日もないだろう。
なんとか家族だけでやりくりしているのに、母親が仕事をしているというだけで誤解されてしまうのは、やるせない。

夏休みはないけれど、週末の昼下がり、友人の住むキャッツキルに行って数時間を過ごした。
これが夏の唯一ではないけれど、こんな自然に囲まれて、心温まる友人家族と触れ合うと、また明日から頑張ろうという気持ちがみなぎってくる。

キャッツキルの空は高く、もうすっかり秋が始まっていた。
当たり前のようにまた季節が巡ることに感謝。

It has been passed more than 10 years, no doubt, there is no word
"summer vacation" in my family.
My husband hits the busiest summer season, and he works at the office
from morning till late night, or flies domestic or abroad on a business trip.
We send kids to the summer camp all day, and I spend at work as usual.
Honestly, I envy to the conversation that where you go on a trip in the
summer, but this is my life style called destiny.

We have never hired baby sitter regularly.
Only case of emergency, we asked by the extraordinary, hired less than 20
days totally in this decade.
We manage our all things ourselves.
It is heartrending that some people misunderstand the situation since
mother does business.

We didn't have summer vacation, but we went to Catskill, where our friends
live, to stay a few hours for the weekend afternoon. That was not the only
summer memory, but one of the most impressive hours.
Feeling surrounded by nature like this, staying with heartwarming family
made overflowing mind that I would work hard from tomorrow.

The sky in Catskill was high, and autumn had already begun.
I appreciate the seasons come as a matter of course.

奇跡の物語

いつかゆっくり観てみたいと思っていた映画「Dolphin Tale」のDVDを入手した。
傷ついたイルカとそれを救った少年が奇跡を起こす、実話に基づくストーリー。

蟹わなに引っかかったイルカ「ウィンター」を助けた11歳の引きこもり気味の少年。
施設に引き取られたウィンターは尾ひれを失ったが、少年と次第に心を交流させていく。
ウィンターを救いたい一心で、人工尾ひれの開発に周囲の人々を動かし、兵役で脚に障害を負った主人公の従兄（かつてのオリンピック候補生）を絶望から救っていく。
自分の殻を打ち破った少年は、最後は経営危機に瀕した水族館を救うという奇跡を起こす。

普通に考えれば絶対に起きそうにないことを、人は奇跡と呼ぶ。
でもそれは宇宙レベルの不可能なことではなく、強く思い願うことで実現する。
奇跡は起きるから奇跡であって、絶対に無理だと諦めている人にそれは起こらない。
そんなことを改めて教えてくれた、素晴らしい作品であった。

人工尾ひれに使われた素材は、現在人間の義肢にも転用され、実在のウィンターは今でも元気な姿がネットで公開されている。
こんなに良質の作品が日本未公開というのは残念でならない。

思えば叶う。
でも、そのためには具体的に動くことが肝心。
その行動力こそが、周囲を動かし、奇跡を起こすのだ。
ぶれない心で、私も生きていこう。

I got the DVD of "Dolphin Tale" movie that I thought I wanted to watch it
sometime in my spare time.
It was a miracle story based on a true story that a boy saved a injured
dolphin.

11-year-old boy, who had a little problem in his heart, saved the dolphin
"Winter" which was caught in a crab trap.
Winter, which lost the tail fin, had been taken over by the facility, it will
continue to gradually alternating boy and mind.
The boy moved people around in the development of an artificial fin, since
he wanted to save Winter strongly.
Also, he gave a hope from despair to his cousin, a former Olympic candidate,
who suffered a failure to his leg in military service.
Finally, the last miracle of saving the aquarium that was on the verge of
financial crisis, was happened because the boy changed himself.

People call a "miracle", that it is not likely to happen if you think absolutely
normally.
But it is not impossible levels of the universe, and it might be achieved if
we hope and think it strongly.
A miracle is a "miracle" because it happens.
It does not happen to people who are absolutely impossible and give it up.
It was a great piece that taught me to do that again.

The materials used in an artificial tail fin, have diverted to current human
prosthetics.
Winter, a real energetic figure, has been published on the Internet today.
We miss the work of good quality that unpublished in Japan.

I believe it comes true if I think it strongly.
To do so, to move actually is the essential.
Only the ability to take action could move around, bring a miracle.
I will try to continue to live with the strong mind that does not shake.
