ドイツで300年の歴史あるワイナリーオーナーが、
1977年にカナダに移住して開いたワイナリー。

建物の前にあるセンソリーガーデンでは、
ワインの香りを例える時に使われる植物を、実際に手に取ってみる。
草木の香りから、ワインのセパージュを想像する学習体験。

カナダでの歴史は決して古くないけれど、
ヨーロッパの王道で培った技術と、近代化されたファクトリーの融合。

リースリングとアイスワインは絶品で、
レイトハーベストというセカンドラインでも十分に楽しめる。

かつて新世界と分類されたワインの分野が、
今はこんなに世界を魅了している。




A 300-year-old winery owner in Germany,
moved in Canada in 1977, and opened the new winery.

Though their history in Canada is never outdated,

Riesling and ice wine are exquisite.
Also, we can enjoy it even with the second line called Late Harvest.

Canadian wine is the field of wine classified as a new world wine.
Now we are attracted to this new world.

これまでたくさんのワイナリー見学をしてきたけれど、
マイナス10度の寒さを体感しながらの試飲は初体験。

1927年にハンガリーから移住してきたオーナーが、
この土地に惚れ込んで開拓してきたブドウ畑が広がる。

ワイナリーに併設しているダイニングも極上で、
大自然の中で味わう優雅な時間を、羨ましく思う。

お気に入りの数本を買って、先を急ごう。






Canada is famous for ice wine.
Because of the land with high latitude, the fruit of the grapes frozen in the cold,

昨年「ハミルトン」の影にあってトニー賞を逃したけれど、
ブロードウェイで大人気のミュージカル。

アメリカ南部のダイナーで働くウェイトレスのジェナが主人公。
束縛的でDV傾向のある夫との生活に見切りをつけて、
シングルマザーとして夢を叶えていく。

バンドが奏でる斬新な音楽も素晴らしく、
原作となった映画よりもミュージカルが人気の理由がよくわかる。

女性が力強く生きる姿を見ることは、
世の中に明るい希望をもたらせてくれるのだと。

侘び寂び以前の日本では、

かつて実家で飼っていた犬は、シェパードと柴犬の雑種。
賢くて気が強いから、誤って綱を放すと、すぐに遠くに逃げて行った。
車に轢かれていないか、野犬狩りに捕まっていないか、
一日中心配で、探し回った。
お腹を空かせて日が暮れた頃に、ようやく戻って来る。
それが、いつものパターンだった。

セントラルパークは、午前９時までと午後９時以降、
飼い犬のオフリーシュ散歩が認められている。
飼い主はルールを守り、糞の始末も絶対責任。
犬たちも行儀良く、飼い主について歩くのが本当に不思議。

我が家の飼い犬は、番犬として繋いで飼っていたから、
いつも自由に餓えていたのだろうなと回顧する。

ここにいる犬たちは、いつも自由に歩いているから、
飼い主に忠実についていた方が楽なのだろう。

人間も仕事も同じかもしれない。
自己責任で何でも自由にさせてもらう状況にあると、
ある程度の規律の中で守られていることが羨ましく思える。








A dog kept at my parent's house in the past was a hybrid of Shepard and Shiba Inu.
Because she was wise and strong, she immediately ran away to a long distance if we mistakenly released the leash,

私は大好きな妹を見守る姉の気持ちで、
オーナーから次のステージ構想を聞いている。

2012年の金環日食は、日本で観ていた。
ずっと待ち焦がれていた「太陽のリング」に、ハラハラと涙がこぼれ落ちた。

2017年の皆既日食は、全米で話題となった。
友人連中や乗り合わせたタクシーの運転手まで、日食の話題で持ち切りだった。

私は一人、自宅アパートの屋上でその時を迎えた。
ニューヨークでは７割ほどしか欠けて見えなかったけれど、
中途半端な今の自分が写っているような気がした。

2030年、北海道で再び「金環日食」が見られるという。
美しい「太陽のリング」を見届けられるように、
元気な肉体と、美しい心を目標にしていたい。

My friends and the taxi driver discussed a topic of the eclipse.

I spent the time of the eclipse at the roof top of my apartment.
It was only about 70% lacking in New York.
I felt it was the reflected myself, halfway.

In 2030, "The annular solar eclipse" can be seen again in Hokkaido.
To be able to see the beautiful "ring of the sun"
I want to target my energetic body and beautiful heart.

ニューヨーク、ソーホー地区で、
日本語上映、英語字幕の映画を鑑賞した。
８月後半の週末、館内はガラ空きだったけれど、
当初一週間の上映期間が、もう一週間延長になったことは意義深い。

早口の方言が聞き取れないと言って、
次男は英語の字幕を必死で追いかけていた。

戦争が始まっても、人々の暮らしは普通に続いていて、
そこに笑いや涙や希望があることを、静かに教えてくれる作品。

日本の歴史や文化を知ってもらうためにも、
国境を越えてたくさんの人に見てもらいたい。

すずのように生きることが、現代女性のテーマかもしれない。

「さっきニューヨークに着いたから、今晩飯食いに行かない？」
忙しい経営者たちは、およそ突然連絡してくるパターンが多い。

アニキに会うのは、２年前のローンチレセプション以来。
ようやくグランドオープンした店舗で、再会を乾杯する。

数日前、持病の治療で３日入院したという話をしながら、
もうニューヨークで仕事をしているこのエネルギー。

10数年前に、アニキに紹介してもらった人と仕事が、
今でも形を変えて、繋がっている。
丁寧に人を繋ぐことの大事さを、周囲がずっと教えてくれる。

心底、感謝しかない。
次の再会まで、また少し頑張ろう。

Most of my friends who are busy executive call me suddenly.

I met my "Brother" since the launch reception two years ago.
We finally tossed again at MIFUNE New York restaurant which opened in July at last.

A few days ago, he was hospitalized for 3 days with treatment of chronic illness,

More than ten years ago, he introduced me many people and business.
Even now we are still connected.

社会人になってからだった。
自社養成パイロットの訓練所がナパ・ヴァレーにあって、
彼らが一時帰国する時に、よくモンダヴィのワインを買ってきてくれた。

ロバート・モンダヴィ氏の孫にあたるカルロ氏とダンテ氏が、
素晴らしいピノ・ノワール種のワインを売り出した。

「RAEN」と書いて「レイン」と読む。
「雨」は、ブドウにとってかけがえのない存在。
天から降る雨は、土に吸収された後、ブドウの根に吸い上げられて、
やがてブドウの果汁になる。
土壌と天候を徹底研究した結果、生粋のブルゴーニュスタイルのワインが
誕生したという。

美しいルビー色と華やかな花の香り、そして凝縮された果実味。
これだけでもう十分な条件が揃っている。

新しいワインの歴史が、こうして始まっていく。

最初にシェフの料理に惚れ込んだ頃、彼はまだ20代だった。

こういう日本人をずっと応援していきたいと、あの頃から思っていた。

時を経て、40代になったシェフと、次の企画を話し合う。
古巣を訪ねてきたシェフに、どんどん仲間が集まってくる。

かつてのロブションチームが、今でもシェフを慕う様子が嬉しくて。
ずっと御縁が繋がって、未来を創造する楽しさにワクワクする。

ニューヨーカーは、朝が早い。
早朝５時過ぎ、東の空が明るくなる頃には起床して、
６時になると、ジムや散歩に出かける。

早朝のセントラルパークは、飼い犬もリーシュなしで歩けるし、
毎朝おなじみの顔と会釈を交わすのも心地よい。

20年後の夏に、ここで盛大なイベントをやる企画があって、
20年後の夏も、ここで元気に再会したいと思う。

高校時代の文集にも、アンコ好きを嬉々として発信していた。
同級生は、今でも会うたびに手土産を持ってきてくれる。

新設されたばかりの小学校で、初めてのホームルーム。
黒板に白いチョークで名前を書いた先生の後ろ姿を、今でも鮮明に覚えている。
背筋がピンと伸びたように緊張感のある美しい文字に、
綺麗な字が書ける大人になりたい、そう思った。

あれから何人という師に巡り合ってきたけれど、
私の根本にある揺るぎないスタンスを根付かせてくれたのは、
きっと幼少の頃に受けた教育の影響が大きいはず。

いつか、恩師と会って、人生を振り返ってみたい。
出版社の粋な計らいで、そんな貴重な経験が実現した。

数十年前の教え子の一人一人の名前や性格を記憶していて、
あの頃の私を客観的に語る恩師の言葉に、
ただただ、涙が溢れた。

今ここに存在していること、きっとすべてに意味がある。

今夏の滞在は、ほとんど私用が入れられなかった。
それでも連絡をくださる方々とは、どうにかお会いしたかった。
打ち合わせの合間、隙間時間にぴったりと当てはまると、
運命のようなものを感じてしまう。

時間を作って会いに来てくださった方々、本当にありがとう。
そして、私がちゃんと動けるようにと、
まず子供達の世話を申し出てくださった親友たちに感謝。
彼女たちの気遣いに助けられて、どうにか今日がある。

さて。
たくさんの締め切りを抱えつつ、移動中。




Most of my stay in this summer was not used for private.
Nevertheless, I wanted to meet someone who gave me contact.
When fitting perfectly between meeting time and gap time,
I felt something like fate.

Thank you very much for those who made time to come and see me.
And as I can move properly,
First of all, I thank my best friends who offered to take care of my kids.
My girlfriend helped me a lot, and today I have something to work.

昨秋から突然発信を休止して、水面下に潜ってしまった星さんが、
東京にいた私に連絡をくださった。
ほんの数日前から発信を再開した理由を聞きながら、
この若かりしホープの未来にワクワクした。

タイミング良く実歩さんも合流して、
数ヶ月ぶりの同窓会を楽しんだ。

私には想像もつかないようなビジネス展開をしているお二人が、
私が日本に行くと必ず声をかけてくださる律儀な誠実さが嬉しい。

私は30代の頃に、何を考えて、何を目指していたのだろう。
自分が前に進むキッカケになったあの時の気持ち、あの時の初心。
ずっと大事に育んでいきたい人間関係。

忘れずにいたい。
すべては昨日への感謝から。




Mr. Wataru Hoshi had suspiciously stopped his message out and got silent
from last autumn.
He got in touch with me when I was in Tokyo.
Listening to the reason why the outgoing call was restarted just a few days ago,
I was thrilled about the future of this youngster Hope.

Ms.Miho Suzuki joined well at the timing,
we enjoyed the reunion for the first time in a few months.

Two people who are developing business that I cannot imagine,
I am happy with the honest sincerity that they always ask me to meet
when I go to Japan.

By the time that I was in my thirties, I wondered what I was thinking and what
I was aiming for.
The feeling of that moment when I got to go forward, and the beginning mind
of that time.
I want to nurture the human relations carefully forever.

I do not want to forget.

午前８時前。
ホテルのダイニングで食事を取る時に、友人が来てくれたり、
そのまま仕事の打ち合わせをしたりする。

レインボーブリッジを眺めながら、深呼吸をする。
朝から蜃気楼のように揺らめく景色に、今日の酷暑を予感する。




Before 8 AM.
When we eat at the hotel dining, my friends join there,
or we have arrangements for work.

I take a deep breath while looking at the Rainbow Bridge.
In the scenery that shakes like a mirage from the morning, I guess the hot weather today.

On the mountain trail that continues with a gradual slope,
it was fun to row the pedal while singing my favorite songs.

週末、友人のセカンドハウスを訪れた。
生憎のお天気だったけれど、雨に濡れた緑の美しさが目に焼きつく。

平日は都内で忙しく働いて、
週末になるとここでリフレッシュするという。

お気に入りのアートと食事と緑に囲まれる生活。
そんな暮らしができる日を妄想してみる。




On the weekend, I visited my friend 's second house.
It was a bad weather, but the beauty of the green wet by the rain
is burned to the eye.

They are working busy in Tokyo on weekdays,
and refresh here at the weekend.

Life surrounded by my favorite art, meals and greenery.
