I had been out since mid-January.
I went to Japan and came back.

The US government confirmed a COVID-19 variant in New York, and PCR testing was mandatory before returning home.
Another PCR test and two weeks of voluntary quarantine after arrival in Narita.
Before and after returning to New York, PCR test and voluntary quarantine for ten days.

I had to take the PCR test, get a negative certificate, and deal with the quarantine officer.
Every procedure was too much trouble, and I realized how difficult it had become to come and go.

I couldn't meet most of the people I was supposed to complete because of Japan's emergency declaration.
But it was nice to be able to have a ZOOM meeting without the time difference.

Many of my friends around me have already had their vaccinations.
I wonder if the world is slowly peaking out.
